A book review

Here's a book review for you of a book I've just finished reading. I fully recommend it to anyone who likes Skulduggery Pleasant or Artemis Fowl as I found it really good, and I, therefore, have a similar taste in books to you.

 Book: The Looking Glass Wars
Author: Frank Beddor
Date published:2004
Short description: A modern take on Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carrol. Frank Beddor takes the basic idea of Alice in Wonderland and changes it to make it more fun and exiting, and he gives it lots of twists in the plot. The setting is the same as Alice in Wonderland, but the plot is very different. It is the 1st book in a trilogy.
Rating out of 10 and why: I would probably give it an 8 or an 9. It is gripping and elegantly descriptive, but not too descriptive to make it boring. It is one of those books that you can't put down. The story line is good, and while bits of the book cleverly fall in line with Alice in Wonderland, the story line is quite different, so you  don't know and can't guess the outcome even if you have read Alice in Wonderland.
Age range of readers: 11-16. It is quite violent but isn't particularly tricky to read. However, Frank Beddor has quite a sophisticated writing style.

  1. Wow, this looks interesting. I think I'll give it a read. I might not have thought to look for it. I find the title interesting though, so if I saw it somewhere, I would still take a look.

    Thanks for posting the review!
